Assign exception

This recipe shows how to assign exceptions to specific users or teams. Assignment triggers the SLA timer and routes the exception to the assigned user's review queue.

Endpoint

POST /v1/exceptions/{id}/assign

Assigns the exception to a user or team. The assignment triggers the SLA timer based on the exception's severity.

Prerequisites

  • A valid tenantId and bearer JWT.
  • The user must have at least one of: tenant_admin, tenant_analyst, tenant_lead.
  • The target user must be a member of the tenant with an analyst or admin role.

Request body

curl -X POST https://api.falconveritas.com/v1/exceptions/exc-001/assign \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $FVI_JWT" \
-H "X-Tenant-Id: $FVI_TENANT_ID" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"assigned_to": "user:bob",
"team": "team:recon-analysts",
"due_at": "2026-08-23T17:00:00Z",
"priority": "high",
"rationale": "Escalating due to cross-border mismatch requiring regulatory review",
"idempotency_key": "assign-fvi-$RANDOM"
}'

Response

{

"status": "in_review",

"audit_trail_id": "audit-002"
}

Team assignment

Team-based assignment uses round-robin within the team's active members. FVI's teams table tracks each team's membership and the assignment history to ensure even distribution.

Use cases

  • Escalation routing — assign critical exceptions to senior analysts.
  • Workload balancing — distribute exceptions across team members.
  • Specialized handling — assign exceptions to domain experts (FX, crypto, derivatives).

Code samples

TypeScript

import { FVI } from '@falconveritas/sdk';

const fvi = new FVI({
baseUrl: 'https://api.falconveritas.com',
bearer: process.env.FVI_JWT!,
tenantId: process.env.FVI_TENANT_ID!,
});

const assignment = await fvi.exceptions.assign('exc-001', {
assignedTo: 'user:bob',
team: 'team:recon-analysts',
priority: 'high',
rationale: 'Escalating due to cross-border mismatch requiring regulatory review',
idempotencyKey: `assign-fvi-${Date.now()}`,
});

console.log('Assigned:', assignment.assigned_to, 'due', assignment.due_at);

Python

from falconveritas import FVI

client = FVI(
bearer=os.environ["FVI_JWT"],
tenant_id=os.environ["FVI_TENANT_ID"],
)

assignment = client.exceptions.assign(
"exc-001",
assigned_to="user:bob",
team="team:recon-analysts",
priority="high",
rationale="Escalating due to cross-border mismatch requiring regulatory review",
idempotency_key=f"assign-fvi-{int(time.time())}",
)
print("Assigned:", assignment.assigned_to, "due", assignment.due_at)
